A night in does not have to mean the same show and the same couch. Playing a game together is one of the simplest ways to laugh, flirt a little and see a different side of each other. The best couple games need almost no equipment, no big budget and no experience.
Here are 15 couple games to play at home, with short rules so you can start in minutes. Pick one based on your energy: some are calm, some are competitive and a few are happily ridiculous.

Before you start
- Agree on a silly prize, such as choosing dinner or picking the next movie.
- Keep scoring light. The point is the laughter, not the winning.
- Put phones away or use one phone as a timer.
- Any player can skip a round that feels uncomfortable.
Guessing and storytelling games
- 1. Two truths and a lie, couple edition. Each of you says three things about your past, two true and one false. The other person guesses which is the lie. You will learn stories you have not heard.
- 2. How well do you know me? Write ten questions about yourself with a hidden answer, such as my favorite childhood snack. Your partner answers, and you score together.
- 3. Story chain. Start a story with one sentence and take turns adding one sentence at a time. Aim for the most dramatic or silly ending.
- 4. Twenty questions. One person thinks of a person, place or thing, and the other asks yes or no questions to guess it.
- 5. Charades. Act out movies, songs or shared memories without speaking. Use a timer for extra pressure.
Creative and playful games
- 6. Draw and guess. Draw a word in 30 seconds while your partner guesses. Bad drawings are part of the fun.
- 7. Photo scavenger hunt. Make a list of ten things to photograph around the house, such as something round or something you both love, and race to finish.
- 8. Playlist guessing. Take turns playing the first ten seconds of songs that matter to you. The other person guesses the song and says why you chose it.
- 9. Compliment battle. Take turns giving a specific compliment. The first one to run out loses, which is rarely a bad outcome.
- 10. Build something together. Use blocks, cards or cushions and build the tallest tower or the best fort in ten minutes.
Food, taste and challenge games
- 11. Blind taste test. One person is blindfolded and guesses snacks, drinks or ice cream flavors. Check allergies before you start.
- 12. Cooking race. Choose a mystery ingredient and each cook a dish in 30 minutes. Taste and rate them.
- 13. Puzzle race. Take two small puzzles of the same size and see who finishes first, or work on one big puzzle together against the clock.
- 14. Memory match. Lay out cards or small objects, look for one minute, cover them and see who remembers more.
- 15. Karaoke duel. Pick songs for each other to sing, and judge the performances with scorecards.

How to choose the right game
- Want to talk? Choose two truths and a lie, how well do you know me, or story chain.
- Want to laugh? Choose charades, karaoke or draw and guess.
- Want something calm? Choose the puzzle, memory match or the compliment battle.
- Want something active? Choose the photo scavenger hunt or the cooking race.

Frequently asked questions
What are good couple games for people who are not competitive?
Story chain, the compliment battle, building something together and the photo hunt are cooperative or light enough that nobody has to win.
Do we need to buy anything?
No. Everything here uses items you already have: paper, a timer, snacks and a few household objects.
Can we play these with friends?
Most of them work with more players. Charades, story chain, twenty questions and the photo hunt are especially fun in a group.
These games are for fun. Adapt them to your own space and comfort, and check allergies before any food game.
